Dons Seafood - Lafayette

I don't visit Louisiana very often, but when I do I like to order what I cannot find where I live. This visit included 2 nights in Lafayette. I didn't arrive from San Antonio until 8pm. fortunately, Don's Seafood is open until 11pm on Saturday and their dress code, from what I observed, is "jeans casual". The parking lot was large, and quite full. I told the hostess I could eat at the bar, but she said a table is available. My server was Moe. She was very attentive to my need. I ordered the Crawfish Dinner, which came with Crawfish gumbo, crawfish au gratin, crawfish etoufee', crawfish scampi, another crawfish item, fried crawfish, stuffed baked potato and hush puppies. I also ordered homemade bread pudding for dessert. Everything was wonderful, except their tartar sauce. I couldn't wait to get to a toothbrush to get rid of the aftertaste. I expected to pay a lot because I'm on vacation. Dinner was $49 plus 20 percent tip. I highly recommend Don's!

Stopped here as I heard they had yummy hush puppies. The hush puppies were ok a bit dry. But what was delicious were the fried crab claws and the fried alligator. The alligator was especially delicious. And which ever person on the Google reviews recommended the honey mustard to dip them in was spot on. Good choice. Would definitely get those two dishes again. Nice friendly service.

Had such a great experience at Don's Seafood and we cannot recommend it enough. First of all, our server Christian was truly the best. Attentive without hovering, friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and just made the whole meal feel fun and relaxed. Service like that makes a big difference, and he absolutely delivered. He should get a raise for sure ha! We started with the jacked up oysters and the boudin balls, and both were packed with flavor. The oysters had the perfect kick, and the boudin balls were crispy on the outside, rich and savory inside. For mains, we had the fried catfish with rice and beans, and it was comfort food at its finest. Crispy, well seasoned fish and sides that were just as satisfying as the main. Everything we ordered was so good, and paired with top notch service, it made for an easy 100 percent recommendation. We will definitely be back.
